Poetry Out Loud
Poetry Out Loud encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization and recitation. This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
Poetry Out Loud uses a pyramid structure that starts at the classroom level. Winners advance to a school-wide competition, then to the Butte County competition. Winners from the county competition will advance to the state competition in March.
Butte County's Poetry Out Loud program is supported by the Friends of the Arts.
