Woodland Community College Hosts Region 2 Migrant Education Regional Speech and Debate BCOE’s Migrant Education Division hosted the annual Speech and Debate event on Saturday March 10th. Students from Galt to the Oregon border participated after qualifying by winning their local competitions. The day was filled with student competitions, student dances, a keynote speaker and an incredible authentic lunch. Congrats to the winners who advanced to the state tournament later this month!
2nd Annual National History Day – Butte County 2018 State Champions Advance! – Students from all over Butte County created historical papers, exhibits, websites, documentaries and drama performances, based on this year’s theme: “Conflict and Compromise in History”. MLK Celebration Awards Local Students Scholarships! Oroville Soutside Community Center hosted the annual Pancake Breakfast and Scholarship Program on Monday. Over 250 attended the event. Keynote Speaker Dr. Samia Yagub, District Attorney Mike Ramsey and Congressman Doug LaMalfa spoke on the importance of unity and education for our youth and within our communities. New Electronic System Coming to BCOE Oroville Office Buildings!!! The implementation of the new electronic door access system will take place this month, building by building (Lincoln Center, 1895 Bird, and deRoco). A schedule will be posted next week when M&O is available to take pictures and issue new badges. This new card key system will reduce costs; provide better and more controlled security; provide instant access information and is easy to use.
